Client manufactures UV curing systems with a huge range of option and configurations revolving around one central system. The client previously employed a full-time engineer to create a program to fit the specific options of every machine sold. This was time consuming and maintaining all the versions of the code was impossible.
Maskine worked with the client to determine all the available options offered and then utilized Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 and the low-cost high-feature CP6606 integrated HMI/Controller to write a single program which encompasses all the features and configurations the client offers. The program allows the client’s technicians to input the options and configurations of each machine on the HMI during commissioning. The hardware configuration and screens then adjust to fit the specific machine, without the need for a controls engineer. In addition, there is only one version of the code to maintain which works for every machine sold.
Since the initial creation of the this code, Maskine has worked with the client to many implement additional features and incorporate a new product line into the existing code. The client is now able to use one PLC program across multiple product lines with simple configuration by their field technicians.
